I am in a quandary.
Do I paint these black (matt) or pale blue?
Surrounded by hydrangeas the blue would be whimsical, but what about when the camellias show in pink red & white?

Tough choice, colour combinations get me every time. I could spend days pondering. When I look at this photo I think something bright like yellow to show up against the foliage but then I’m partial to bright colours and have been known to pair red with pink so I wouldn’t exactly trust my opinion. Good luck!
Definitely black….It’s the best neutral for any flower display.
Remember “black is beautiful”. The set you posted looked better in the photo. Couldn’t tell it needs painting.

I say blue – whimsy is so less boring and I think it would be okay with the red and white.

My vote is for blue, but I would choose a darker shade – a smoky blue or cornflower blue.
